Professor Jang Won-ki received his Bachelor’s degree in Korean Language and Literature from
Daegu University between 1989 and 1996. He later earned a Master’s degree in Korean Language
(2010) and a Doctorate (2014) from Daegu Catholic University. Professor Jang is the author
of high-quality academic publications aimed at developing and expanding the Korean language
for foreigners. In 2015, he completed a professional development course for Korean language
teachers.
He began his academic career in 2011 at Daekyeung University, where he taught Korean. From
2014 to 2016, he actively worked in the Department of Korean Language and Culture at Daegu
Catholic University. Between 2017 and 2019, he served at the Educational Center of the
Embassy of the Republic of Korea, and from 2018 to 2024, he taught Korean at the Department
of Far Eastern Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, where he continues to teach
today. Since 2024, he has been the editor-in-chief of the Korean newspaper Haninsinmun in
Kazakhstan. His research focuses on modern methods of teaching Korean, developing online
lectures, and creating foreign textbooks to enhance Korean language education in Central
Asia, particularly in Kazakhstan.
