The founder of the innovative for Kazakhstan historical science direction - historical informatics, formed at the junction of traditional history, classical source study, applied mathematics and computer science. As part of the scientific activities Zhakisheva SA research is being conducted on the methodology of history and science, approbation of modern techniques and techniques of concrete historical research, the development of methodological issues of quantitative history and historical informatics, computer source study, source study of mass sources, historical databases and data banks, the use of modern technologies in historical research, in particular, multimedia technologies, database technology, network technologies, statistical packages, etc. In 1996, for the first time in Kazakhstan, she defended her Ph.D. dissertation using mathematical-statistical methods and information technologies for processing historical sources on the subject “Bai-“semifeudal ”in Kazakhstan at the turn of the 20-30s of the twentieth century: historical-sources analysis of problem” in two specialties - 07.00.02 - Homeland history (History of the Republic of Kazakhstan); 07.00.09 – Historiography, Sourcement and Methods of Historical research.
