Autobiography

I graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Faculty of Management and Applied Mathematics, in 1973. In 1977, I defended my PhD thesis at MIPT in "Mathematical Cybernetics." In 1993, I completed retraining at the World Bank Institute in Washington, D.C., USA, in market economics. I participated in various World Bank seminars in Washington, D.C., Vienna, Istanbul, and Brussels. In 1999, I defended my doctoral dissertation in specialty 08.00.13 - economic and mathematical methods. I have published over 200 articles and books, including articles in international journals indexed in the Q1-Q2 quartiles. Since 1977, I have worked as a lecturer, associate professor, department head, and dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. He is currently a professor in the Department of Economics at this university. A research group under my leadership is currently implementing a grant-funded project from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, "Studying the Impact of the Distribution of Oil Revenues between Accumulation and Use for Current Goals of Socioeconomic Development in Kazakhstan," for 2024-2026. Two projects have been completed with grants from the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 2012 to 2020, we implemented several grant-funded projects from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 2010 to 2013, I participated in the international scientific project "Economic Development on the New Silk Road" together with partners from Japan, China, and Uzbekistan. From 2009 to 2012, we implemented the European Commission's TEMPUS-IV project. Following the events of January 2022, a study was conducted on the economic causes of unrest in several regions of Kazakhstan. Another study, published in 2023, identified the key factors affecting the global competitiveness of oil-exporting and -importing countries. From 2008 to the present, I have served as the chair of the dissertation council for economics. Under my supervision, two dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Sciences (Economics), 11 candidate dissertations, and nine PhD dissertations have been defended. I have been a multiple recipient of the "Best Teacher of Higher Education Institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan" grant from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and a state research scholarship.
