Professor Galiya Zhusupova was born in 1945 near Shchuchinsk, where in 1963 she finished school with a golden medal. In 1969 she graduated from Moscow Institute of Fine Chemical Technology. In 1975, after defence of the candidate dissertation she stayed at KazNU, where she combines scientific work on the study of the chemical composition of medicinal plants with teaching. Under her guidance four drugs have been developed (substance, tincture, syrup and ointment with a unified name "Limonidin"), registered by the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MH RK) and included into the State Register of Medicines, 2004-2007. Created medicinal preparations are commensurate with the world analogues in terms of efficiency, have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, hepatoprotective, antiviral, antimutagenic, antimicrobial properties, do not cause allergic, cumulative reactions in the body and are able to improve its immune status. She was a co-supervisor of projects funded by the Science Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MES RK; 2005, 2006), scientific supervisor of six projects under the programs of fundamental and applied research MES RK and one innovative project. The results of scientific research were introduced into courses for bachelor, master, doctoral students, master classes for teachers and students. She has close scientific relations with many foreign scientists, but the most fruitful and significant are with Professor Samir Ross (University of Mississippi, USA), foreign supervisor of her doctoral students. More than 350 publications (11 registration certificates of MH RK, 1 monograph, 25 manuals and methodical developments, an electronic textbook, 32 patents, etc.), h-index=5. Awards: "Woman inventor" (2006), "Best university teacher" (2011), Anniversary medal for the 80th anniversary of al-Farabi KazNU (2015), medal "25 years of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan" (2016). She was a member of the editorial board for the creation of the State Pharmacopoeia of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Currently, she is a curator of a new educational program "Technology of pharmaceutical production"
