ZHANABAYEV ZEINULLA ZHANABAYEVICH, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, Head of the Laboratory of Physics of Nonlinear Information Phenomena and Semiconductor Optoelectronics. In 1959, he entered the Faculty of Physics of S.M. Kirov Kazakh State University. After successfully graduating from the university, he was admitted to postgraduate studies at KazSU. In 1968, he defended his Candidate of Sciences (PhD) dissertation in experimental aerodynamics and thermophysics. In 1995, he defended his Doctor of Sciences dissertation entitled “Nonlinear Physical Properties of Hydrodynamic Turbulence.” Z. Zh. Zhanabayev developed a structural theory of turbulence. The theory and its experimental verification were published in both Russian and English editions of the Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics (JETP) in 1992. In 1996, he established information– entropy criteria for the self-organization of open systems, published in the Reports of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and later in Physics B (2006). Together with his doctoral candidates, he developed a theory and experimentally created a radio-frequency generator of dynamic chaos with phase control. This series of works resulted in two patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2009, 2010). In collaboration with doctoral students, he published a series of papers on the theory and experimental study of synchronization of nonlinearly coupled oscillators in Physical Review (2009, 2010, 2012). He demonstrated the possibility of the existence of various synchronization regimes and quasiperiodic self-organization. Based on his fundamental scientific results, Professor Zhanabayev successfully carries out the training of highly qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel. Under his supervision, 9 Candidate of Sciences dissertations, 3 Doctor of Sciences dissertations, and 5 international-level PhD dissertations have been defended. Professor Z. Zh. Zhanabayev is the initiator of the development of a new scientific field in Kazakhstan — nonlinear physics and synergetics. He is the author of 2 monographs, 12 textbooks, and more than 300 scientific publications in modern areas of science.
