Autobiography

Nazym Utegalievna Shedenova, Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Associate Professor. She earned her diploma with honors in Sociology at Al-Farabi Kazakh State University in 1993. From 1993 to 1994, she was a research fellow at the Kazakh Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 1994 to 1997, she completed her postgraduate studies in the Sociology Department at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. In 1998, she defended her candidate's dissertation in specialty 22.00.03 - "Economic Sociology" on the topic "Women's Labor in a Market Economy: Social Aspects." From 2001 to 2004, she completed her doctoral studies at Al-Farabi KazNU. In 2008, she defended her doctoral dissertation on "Institutionalization of Social and Labor Relations in the Republic of Kazakhstan: Gender Aspects" in her specialty 22.00.03 – "Economic Sociology, Ethnosociology, and Demography." Since 1997, she has worked in the Department of Sociology and Social Work at Al-Farabi Al- Farabi KazNU, rising from assistant to associate professor. She has 32 years of research and teaching experience. She is a member of the Association of Sociologists of Kazakhstan, an academician of the International Informatization Academy, and the director of the Center for Gender Education at Al-Farabi KazNU. In 2000, she was awarded the Kazakhstan Youth Union Prize for her work on socioeconomic issues. In 2003, she was awarded the Kazakhstan Youth Union Prize, diploma for "Best Research Work of Al-Farabi KazNU in 2002" in the field of social sciences and humanities. In 2003, she became a laureate of the Association of Sociologists of Kazakhstan Award for young Kazakhstani sociologists. In 2009, N.U. Shedenova received a grant from the Ministry of Education and Science of the RK for "Best University Teacher 2008." In 2011, she was awarded the MES badge "For Merits in the Development of Science in the RK." She was awarded the jubilee medal "Al-Farabi KazNU Award for 80 Years of University Excellence." N.Shedenova's research interests include economic sociology, the sociology of labor and employment, gender studies, and social policy. She has published approximately 200 scientific and educational publications. She teaches undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses in Sociology and Social Work. She is a coordinator and developer of educational programs in Sociology. She leads the "Writing" research group for master's and doctoral students.
