Yuriy Serebriansky, born in 1975, is of Polish origin. He graduated from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with a Bachelor's degree in 1997 and earned a Master's degree in Intercultural Communication in Europe from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Poland. He completed the Doctoral School of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn in 2024 and obtained a PhD degree in Sociolinguistics in 2025. His doctoral dissertation was entitled “The Russian Language in a Different Ethnic Environment: The Case of Contemporary Poland.” He is a member of the Writers' Union of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakh PEN Club, and the Association of Literary Translators of Poland. He is the author of scholarly articles published in Kazakhstani and international academic journals, including journals indexed in the Scopus database. He is also the author of several books of prose and poetry, as well as publications in literary journals in Kazakhstan and abroad. His novel “Altynshash” received the State Prize of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. He is a recipient of the Order of Kurmet. Currently, he serves as Senior Lecturer at the Department of Russian Philology and World Languages of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
