Autobiography

Shaken A.Sh. was born in 1982. In 2003, she graduated from the Faculty of Geography of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, majoring in Geography. In the same year, she entered postgraduate studies. In 2005, she successfully defended her master’s thesis and was awarded the degree of Master of Geography. Since 2007, she has been working at the Department of Tourism: she was appointed as an Assistant Lecturer, and in 2009 she was promoted to the position of Senior Lecturer. In 2016, she enrolled in a doctoral program in the specialty 6D090200 – Tourism. In 2024, she successfully defended her doctoral dissertation entitled “Factors Determining the Development of Agritourism in the Almaty Region.” During the 2013–2016 and 2021–2024 academic years, she served as Deputy Head of the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism for Academic and Methodological Affairs. Since the 2024–2025 academic year to the present, she has been serving as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management for Academic and Methodological Affairs. Shaken A.Sh. systematically improves teaching methodologies and the structure of educational and methodological course packages. She supervises international tourism and industrial internships and serves as an academic advisor and consultant for second-year students. At the undergraduate level, she teaches the following courses in the Kazakh language: Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship in Tourism Tourism Ethnography Gaming Industry and Tourism Fundamentals of Animation in Tourism National and Thematic Parks of the World For all courses taught, educational and methodological complexes have been developed and are regularly updated. She actively supervises students’ research activities; under her guidance, students have become winners and award recipients of various competitions and academic contests. In 2011, she published the textbook “Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship in Tourism” and a methodological manual for laboratory work for the course “Geography of Tourism in Kazakhstan.” In 2013, the textbook “Geography of Tourism in Kazakhstan” was published. Shaken A.Sh. is the author of more than 30 publications in the proceedings of international and national scientific conferences and approximately 10 articles in national academic and educational journals.
