Bakbergen Bekbau was born on February 2, 1978 in the Zhanatalap branch of the Kazygurt district of the Turkestan region. In 1993, he graduated from the Zhanatalap Secondary School with honors after the 9th grade and entered the Shymkent Automobile Mechanics College. In 1997, he completed his studies with a special diploma in the specialty of a mechanical technician. From 2000 to 2001, he worked at the Shymkent Leather and Shoe Factory. In 2001, he entered the Al-Farabi Kazakh State National University (KazNU). During his studies, he graduated from the military department. From 2004 to 2006, he worked as a laboratory assistant at the Laboratory of Fluid and Gas Mechanics at the Scientific Research Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics at KazNU. In 2006, he received a diploma in Mechanics with the qualification "Mechanic, applied mathematician". In 2007, he entered the PhD program at KazNU and in 2010 defended his dissertation on the topic "Investigation of the influence of downhole flow on well productivity" under the scientific supervision of Professor A. Kaltayev. The research was conducted in collaboration with the Faculty of Oil and Gas Drilling at the AGH University of Science and Technology (Poland) and the University of Louisiana (USA). In 2008, he won a UNESCO scholarship, which allowed him to complete an internship at the AGH University of Science and Technology under the supervision of Professor S. Nagy. In 2009-2010. He completed a scientific internship at the University of Louisiana, where he worked on his PhD thesis under the supervision of a foreign supervisor, Professor A. Wojtanowicz. He became the winner of the Bolashak International Scholarship, thanks to which he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Texas at Austin from 2012 to 2015. For 14 months, he participated in the project to develop the UTCHEM chemical composite simulator. In parallel, he worked with Professor Mikhail Panfilov (University of Lorraine) on numerical modeling of water supply insulation. In 2016, he won a grant from the Newton-Al-Farabi program and conducted a 6-month study at the University of Sheffield (UK). Since 2017, he has worked at K.I. Satpayev KazNRTU at the Department of Petroleum Engineering, where in 2018-2019 he held the position of professor. From 2019 to 2020, he was the Director of the Department of New Technologies and Enhanced Oil Recovery, and from 2020 to 2025, he was a leading researcher at KMG Engineering LLP.
