Autobiography

Zhankin A. A. graduated with honors from the medical faculty of the Alma-Ata State Medical Institute (ASMI) in 1984. 1984 - 1986 he studied in target clinical residency in specialty "rheumatology" at the Research Institute (RI) of Rheumatology of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (AMS), Moscow. 1986 - 1989 he studied full-time postgraduate studies at the ASMI in specialty "rheumatology" with performance of work in the laboratory of clinical pharmacology of the RI of Rheumatology of the USSR AMS, Moscow. On Nov 17, 1989, he successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic “Clinical and pharmacokinetic study of various methods of using indomethacin in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis” at the RI of Rheumatology of the USSR AMS, Moscow. After graduating from postgraduate school in Nov 1989, he worked as assistant at the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases (DPID) of KazNMU named after S. D. Asfendiyarov. On Dec 11, 2001, by order of the rector of KazNMU, he was appointed to the post of associate professor of DPID. On Oct 7, 2003, by the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhankin A.A. awarded the academic title of Associate Professor (AP). During the work at the DPID of KazNMU (1989–2017) Zhankin A.A. conducted practical classes on propaedeutics of internal diseases (PID) for 3rd year students of the medical, pediatric and dental faculties and the faculty of General Medicine (GM). He gave lectures on PID to 3rd year students of the Faculty of GM and the Faculty of Dentistry (FD), as well as on internal medicine (ID) to 3rd year students of the FD. Conducted practical classes and lectured in English to English-speaking foreign students. Part of the practical training was conducted according to the methodology of Problem-Based Learning (PBL). He took examinations in PID in format of an Optimized Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). Participated in the preparation of Integrated Work Program and Syllabus on PID. Guidelines for teachers and instructions for students of medical, pediatric faculties on certain sections of PID, including in English, have been prepared. A manual on ID for 3rd year students of the FD has been prepared and published. 2016 - 2017 he headed the DPID of KazNMU. Zhankin A.A. is the author of 70 publications.
