       Saniya Akhmetova completed her master’s program in Meteorology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, graduating with honors in 2012. During her studies, she participated in the scientific project “Development of methods, models, and geoinformation technologies for monitoring, analyzing, and forecasting the dynamics of desertification processes in the Republic of Kazakhstan” under the supervision of V.G. Salnikov. She completed a two-week research internship at the PRADEC in Prague (2012). After finishing her master’s degree, she began working as a lecturer at the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. In 2017, Saniya Akhmetova enrolled in the PhD program in Hydrology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, supervised by Kasym Duskaev and Javier Rodrigo Illari. During her doctoral studies, she completed research internships at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (Tashkent, 2018), at the Polytechnic University of Valencia in Valencia (2019) under the supervision of Professor Javier Rodrigo Illari, and at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing (2019). The results of her research conducted during her doctoral studies were presented at several national and international conferences, including Farabi Alemi (Almaty), the International Symposium on Water and Land Resources of Central Asia (Almaty, Kazakhstan), and the International Scientific and Practical Conference “The Role of the President of Tajikistan in Solving Global Problems: Water as a Source of Life” (Almaty, Kazakhstan). She has more than 15 scientific articles published in journals recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education and indexed in Web of Science and Scopus. She is also one of the co-authors of the monograph “Rivers of the Almaty Megapolis.” She served as a researcher in scientific projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan: AP05130805 “Assessment of the impact of natural factors and economic activities on the condition of water bodies in urbanized areas (the case of Almaty)”, project supervisor — Kasym Duskaev. BR21882122 “Sustainable development of natural-economic and socio-economic systems of the West Kazakhstan region in the context of green growth: comprehensive analysis, concept, forecast assessments, and scenarios (Climate section)”, project supervisor — M.A. Askarova.
